Spencer Coatings Limited, the Aberdeen based industrial coatings manufacturer, have announced that they have acquired the Stokes Paints Division of R.J. Stokes Limited.

Both companies have a long tradition of industrial paint making with over two hundred years combined experience between them. Following the acquisition the new company will have a turnover of over £16 million p.a. making it the largest independent coatings manufacturer in the UK.

Phil Buck, Spencer Coatings Managing Director, commenting on the deal reports:

“this acquisition brings together two companies that complement each other in technologies, market sectors and geographical spread”.

Both companies focus on providing first class product quality supported by strong technical support and product development. The new company will enjoy strong positions in a number of key sectors including oil and gas, infrastructure, pipelines and industrial OEM.

James Stokes, Joint Managing Director of R.J. Stokes Limited, will join Spencer Coatings Limited as Operations Director.

Phil Buck, commenting on this appointment, says:

“we are delighted that James is joining us, this demonstrates to Stokes staff and customers his commitment to the future of the new company and provides continuity which is so important for the success of the new company."

This is the latest in a long list of acquisitions that Spencers have made over the last twelve years. This is by far the largest and positions Spencer Coatings Limited as a major force in the industry.
