Spencer Coatings Limited, the Aberdeen manufacturer of industrial coatings, is announcing further investment in Aberdeen following its recent acquisition of Stokes Paints.

Primary production of the combined companies will be at the Stokes factory based at Huthwaite in Derbyshire. Following the acquisition Spencer Coatings turnover will be over £16 million p.a. making it the largest independent and British owned industrial coatings manufacturer in the UK.

Following on from the acquisition, Spencers will be investing in a new distribution centre in Aberdeen to service its Scottish customers. The company’s corporate and head office functions will remain in Aberdeen, as will the sales and technical service department for Scotland. A new technical centre will be established to continue to develop new products for companies throughout Scotland.

Spencer Coatings recently obtained approval from Shell Global for its Transocean range of coating systems for the protection of North Sea assets.

Philip Buck, Managing Director said “this investment in Aberdeen will provide improved customer service and technical support. We are investing in the very latest tinting technology which will enable us to provide a much higher level of service than we were able to before”.
